Actor Delhi Ganesh, known for acing both comic and serious roles, passed away at his Chennai residence due to age-related ailments

On Saturday night, popular Tamil actor Ganesan, fondly known as Delhi Ganesh, passed away at the age of 80. The actor’s son shared this news on social media leaving the entire Tamil film industry in grief.

The last rites of veteran actor Delhi Ganesh took place on Monday morning in Chennai. His mortal remains were cremated with Air Force honours.

Ganesh's contributions to Tamil cinema were widely acknowledged. He won the Tamil Nadu State Film Award Special Prize for his performance in Pasi (1979), and in 1994, he was honoured with the Kalaimamani award by then-Chief Minister J. Jayalalithaa in recognition of his excellence in the arts.

Kollywood stars, including Rajinikanth, Vijay, and Karthi, mourn the loss of veteran actor Delhi Ganesh, who passed away at the age of 80, leaving an enduring legacy in Tamil cinema.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M K Stalin and a host of leaders and film personalities condoled his demise. The actor was 80 years old. He is survived by his wife and three children a son and two daughters.

Delhi Ganesh's last rites were performed in Chennai on the morning of November 11. The veteran was a former Air Force officer before becoming an actor. He was honoured by Indian Air Force who placed an IAF ensign on him.
