Endeavour's Shaun Evans will appear in the lead role of a new ITV espionage thriller titled Betrayal, with filming starting next year.

Here's a first look (above) at Endeavour star Shaun Evans playing a serial killer in the upcoming ITV true crime drama Until I Kill You. The four-parter, which promises to be one of the best ITV dramas of the year, sees Evans, famous for playing Endeavour Morse, teaming up with Motherland 's Anna Maxwell Martin.

Leaving Morse far behind, Shaun Evans new series will see him as an out of favour intelligence officer in Betrayal.

Shaun Evans, famed for his roles in Endeavour, Vigil and Until I Kill You, has landed the lead role in ITV's upcoming thriller, Betrayal. In the series, he will portray John Hughes, a spy who grapples with averting "a serious and dark threat to national security while making sense of his own place in the world".

ITV has commissioned a new espionage thriller which will be set in the clandestine world of MI5 and star Endeavor, Until I Kill You and Vigil star Shaun Evans. The new drama, Betrayal, will see Shaun's character,
