Spirit Airlines Inc. is closing in on a deal with creditors that would restructure its crushing debt load in bankruptcy court after discussions for a tie-up with rival Frontier Group Holdings Inc. fell apart.

The Federal Aviation Administration said on Tuesday it will bar U.S. airlines from operating in Haiti for 30 days after three commercial jetliners were struck by gunfire on Monday. The FBI said separately it was investigating the incidents and working with law enforcement partners.
