Hufanga didn’t participate in training camp, but got close enough to returning to come off the Physically Unable to Perform list at final cuts. That made him eligible to return as soon as he was ready instead of waiting the requisite four weeks had he stayed on an injured list.

San Francisco 49ers safety Talanoa Hufanga was a full participant in practice for the first time since tearing a ligament in his knee last November and could be set to return to game action this week.

But, it appears that the safety is finally ready to make a return, and it’ll likely come when the 49ers face the Los Angeles Rams in Week 3, which precedes a two-game home stretch in the ensuing weeks.
