ADAIR COUNTY, Ky. ( FOX 56) — After a threat to Adair County Public Schools on Wednesday, the district has banned backpacks. The district said backpacks would not be allowed on the middle and high school campuses, covering sixth through 12th graders starting Monday.

COLUMBIA, Ky. (WBKO) - Adair County schools superintendent Jason Faulkner took to social media to announce the closing of all schools in the district for Wednesday, Sept. 11 after a substantiated threat was reported to the district this morning.

Adair County Schools has canceled class Wednesday following a “substantiated threat.” In a Facebook post, Superintendent Jason Faulkner said that the district received the threat early Wednesday morning.

Classes have been canceled in Adair County after the school district received a substantiated threat Wednesday morning.

Classes were also canceled Wednesday in Taylor County after similar threats, the district said in a Facebook post late Tuesday evening, adding that "none of the online threats have been validated, however, I must err on the side of caution to ensure that students and staff are safe and prepared as we move forward with our school year."

The Butler Area School District will be closed Thursday after overnight threats. In a letter to parents, superintendent Brian J. White, Jr. said some of the threats were specifically directed at the Senior High School while others generally referred to Butler.
