The Crimson Tide wore white helmets in eight games during the Ray Perkins era, most recently in a 29-7 win at Cincinnati on Nov. 17, 1984. Former Alabama coach Nick Saban said in 2022 that he didn’t envision ever changing from the current look, and first-year head coach Kalen DeBoer echoed those sentiments on Wednesday.

Alabama has one of the more traditional uniforms in college football, specifically with the helmet. All crimson with a number has been a staple of the program for quite some time, pairing with both the home and away uniform.

As Alabama football begins its final stretch of the 2024 regular season, athletic director Greg Byrne said he has been impressed with Kalen DeBoer.
