Macy’s, which as Filene’s was one of the mall’s original anchor tenants when it first opened in 1999, has been listed for sale, according to The Boston Globe. Providence Place was ordered into receivership last month after the mall’s management company — Brookfield Properties — defaulted on a $259 million debt.

Providence Place Mall’s Macy’s store is up for sale while the chain evaluates the potential real estate value and the potential of future sales growth.

The Boston Globe reported Thursday that the Macy's department store at Providence Place is for sale. The newspaper reported that a six-person team at Atlantic Capital Partners is handling the listing.
