Nokia has secured a contract with Viettel Group to support the network carrier's 5G rollout in Vietnam. The deal will cover 22 provinces across the country, and also see Nokia bolster Viettel's 4G infrastructure. Deployment of the vendor's 5G network will begin this year.

Nokia has announced that it has signed a major new deal with Viettel Group to deploy 5G equipment nationwide for the first time in Vietnam.

Vodafone Idea Ltd. has signed a $3.6 billion contract with companies including Nokia Oyj for the supply of equipment to the Indian phone carrier for a planned upgrade of its network.

Viettel Group lined up Nokia as a major equipment suppler for a planned 5G deployment across Vietnam's 22 provinces this year.
