SAN DIEGO — American Freight, a prominent national furniture and appliance retailer, is closing 328 locations across the United States, including 15 stores in California, two of which are in San Diego. This decision marks the end of an era for the company, which has been a go-to destination for affordable furniture and appliances.

NORTH TONAWANDA, N.Y. — The closure of 328 American Freight stores is underway, including the one location in Western New York. The American Freight location at 778 Niagara Falls Boulevard in North Tonawanda has started the closing process.

Franchise Group, based in Delaware, Ohio, is the parent company of American Freight and other stores including Vitamin Shoppes.

A national furniture store chain is closing all 15 of its location in Michigan, with liquidation sales underway.

The store closing announcement comes days after American Freight's parent company announced restructuring as part of a bankruptcy filing.

American Freight Furniture and Mattress, a discount furniture and mattress chain, has commenced store closing sales at all of its 328 locations and online, Hilco Consumer-Retail announced last week. The company has six stores in New York state, including shops in Clay (4124 NYS 31) and Syracuse (2410 Erie Blvd East).
