A man in his 40s on a bicycle was killed after a crash with an SUV in North Sacramento on Thursday, according to the California Highway Patrol. The agency said that the crash happened around noon near Northgate Blvd.

SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A bicyclist is dead after colliding with a vehicle in the North Sacramento area Thursday. The California Highway Patrol said the crash happened after noon in front of a business on the 4700 block of Northgate Boulevard. CHP says it has officers on the scene investigating the crash.

The Ford Bronco’s front hit the bicyclist, causing the man to be ejected from his bike. He then crashed into the hood and windshield of the SUV, Fetterly said. He was taken to the hospital and pronounced dead, Fetterly said. The Sacramento County Coroner’s Office will identify the man after his family has been notified.
