Mumbai: The rift over the Chief Minister's post within the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) persists. A fresh controversy has surfaced within the opposition alliance, with Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Sanjay Raut criticising alliance partner Congress for its recent comments regarding the coveted post.

While state unit chief Keshav Mahto Kamlesh was made the chairman of the Pradesh Election Committee, Bandhu Tirkey was named the chairman of the manifesto committee and Subodh Kant Sahai would head the campaign committee.

Mumbai: The Maharashtra Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will form the next government in Maharashtra and the chief minister’s post will go to someone from the Congress, senior Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat said in Mira-Bhayander on Thursday.

Mumbai: Senior Maharashtra Congress leader Balasaheb Thorat said on Thursday that the Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) will assume power after the state assembly elections and expressed “100% confidence” that the next chief minister of the state will be from his party.

The MVA comprises Congress, Shiv Sena (UBT) and Sharad Pawar-led NCP (SP) and a dozen smaller allies. Mumbai: At at time when the opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi is inching closer to a seat-sharing deal, both Congress and the Uddhav Thackeray-headed Shiv Sena (UBT) seems to be keen for the post of chief minister.

Thorat’s declaration marks the first time a senior MVA leader has openly suggested that the next Chief Minister will be from Congress.
