The Navy says its highest-ranking military officer has been successfully treated for early-stage breast cancer.
Admiral Lisa Franchetti, the first woman to lead the US Navy, has been treated for breast cancer and is free of the disease, the military service said Friday.
The military branch said Franchetti properly transferred her authority to the Vice Chief of Naval Operations during her surgery.
